My online shop currently has about 25 items, but I also have quite a few creations that never make it online. Because of the nature of the materials that I use a lot of my designs are one-offs or limited edition, and these I will often sell on my stalls or to customers directly.
Do you have a favourite design, and if so why?
I have a lot of favourites! I think every headdress has been a favourite at some point! The first time I make a design I love it. It’s only when I’ve had to make the same design a few times that I start to get a little bored of it, and that gives me the nudge to create something new.
What materials do you use and which is your favourite to work with?
I use a lot of feathers in my designs, but really I am a fabric person so I love working with vintage tapestries, weavings or interesting textiles. I love the textural quality of wool, and the vibrant colours of dyed silk. The fabrics are always the focus of the headdresses to me, everything else is designed around the textile.
Where do you work from?
I have a studio in Evolution Arts, which is a lovely environment to be in. There is always an art class, or yoga or dance class going on, so there’s a nice creative buzz in the building.
What attracted you to Flock?
Flock is a wonderful mix of handmade and vintage with some really unique and interesting pieces, and always full of colour! I am guaranteed to find something I love every time I go in.
