Maria Tilyard
Maria Tilyard is a textile artist who makes whimsical handmade creature cushions and pillow art from her studio in Brighton.
Her love of creating came about when she started to collect vintage fabrics from flea markets and car boot sales. Her favourite fabrics to use are old cotton velvets, 1970s Sanderson and William Morris prints, retro barkcloths, vintage lace and heavily patterned Japanese silks.
Inspiration for her wonderful creations comes from old children's books, her own children’s drawings, wildlife documentaries and her holiday travels.
